Interview

Why do you like writing?
Stanislas Bidossessi Sodonon: Well writing is a good way to express your feelings... when you have stories in your head that you want to share with others, you gather your friends ant you tell them, or you make movies, or you write...

When did you start writing and why?
Stanislas Bidossessi Sodonon: I started writing when I was 10, most probably influenced by the numerous books I used to read (i could make a book every two days!) I used ot make stories and act them, I spent half of my days daydreaming... writing in itself was just a way for me to remember those stories later...

How long have you been writing?
Stanislas Bidossessi Sodonon: I have been writing on and off for the last twelve years...

What is the best book you have ever read?
Stanislas Bidossessi Sodonon: without any hesitation: Shogun by james clavell

Who is your favorite author?
Stanislas Bidossessi Sodonon: Stephen king...

What is the best story you have ever written?
Stanislas Bidossessi Sodonon: it's actually a screenplay, called "checkmate". It's a story about two old men in a room around a chessboard. One of them is there to kill the other and retrieve an eternal life formula from him. As the game progresses, they recall the events that brought them there, and the ones that are taking place as they speak, outside the house. the aim of the story waas to use the chessboard as a mirror for the action. The whole story takes place in the living room, with these two chracters. The challenge was to create the dialogue... I think it wasn't too bad an attempt...

What is some advice you would give new writers?
Stanislas Bidossessi Sodonon: write, and write, and write some more... that's the only one I can give....
