Why do you like writing?
Lonniesha Rae Jackson: I have always enjoyed writing, it's very therapeutic for me. Writing allows you to tell your own story and it takes you everywhere.

When did you start writing and why?
Lonniesha Rae Jackson: I started writing at the age of thirteen. At first I started writing poetry,writing about love at thirteen and I knew nothing of the word. I have always been a horror fanatic,inspired by the great Stephen King I began to write short stories of horror.

How long have you been writing?
Lonniesha Rae Jackson: Off and on for about seventeen years.

What is the best book you have ever read?
Lonniesha Rae Jackson: Not horror related but "I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings". This book was full of so many emotions, of a girl that went through so much just to live life.

Who is your favorite author?
Lonniesha Rae Jackson: Not to sound cliche but Stephen King. I am inspired by him for my horror writings and for me he is like my mental mentor. From Cujo to Dolores Claiborne, never a dull moment with him. I have watched his movies and read many of his books, he is a complete genius.

What is the best story you have ever written?
Lonniesha Rae Jackson: The New House

What is some advice you would give new writers?
Lonniesha Rae Jackson: Never give up and always continue to write. Never allow anything to stop you, including rejection.
