Interview

Why do you like writing?
Debbie Lacy: I've become an active author since I've successfully published a few books which was quite an accomplishment for me. Ive applied so much diligence in my writing and with the support of my spouse, family and friends, their encouragement has inspired me to continue to do what I enjoy doing. Although my passion has always been mystery writing inspired by some of the old time greats such as Albert Hitchcock, Rod Sterling of the "Twilight Zone", the voice controlled narration of the old TV series "The Outer Limits" and I also enjoyed the mystery tales from the old crypt keeper from the chilling series "Tales from the Crypt".

When did you start writing and why?
Debbie Lacy: I remember when I was 10 years old all of the other kids in my neighborhood would be riding bikes or playing jacks, I would be on a blanket under a tree in my yard with my pen and pad creating poems so I've always had a yearning to write.

How long have you been writing?
Debbie Lacy: I've been writing off and on for about several years now. I love to write about consequential events that appear to be real but yet in our minds we believe the unimaginable is a reality.

What is the best book you have ever read?
Debbie Lacy: Although my passion has always been mystery writing inspired by some of the old time greats such as Albert Hitchcock, Rod Sterling of the "Twilight Zone", the voice controlled narration of the old TV series "The Outer Limits" and I also enjoyed the mystery tales from the old crypt keeper from the chilling series "Tales from the Crypt". To add, I can't forget as a child one of my favorite novels was "GooseBumps" written by R.L. Stein which I would read at night snuggled under the covers. Oh how I enjoyed those great mystery stories which were quite entertaining and they really did give me goose bumps!

Who is your favorite author?
Debbie Lacy: Great authors and writers like Toni Morrison, Terry McMillian, Stephen King and Tyler Perry just to name few also use their imagination while searching deep within themselves challenging their great talent to produce great stories. Each having their own unique style in writing.

What is the best story you have ever written?
Debbie Lacy: Mystery Readers love a good mystery story, especially one that displays a sense of reality to today's world, so therefore I will choose "If I Could Be a Fly on the Wall" or even my Novel "Elements of Love". Most of my stories can be found on Amazon, Barnes and Noblie, iTunes, etc.

What is some advice you would give new writers?
Debbie Lacy: All you need is an idea, a scene, a plot then go for it! Always giving it your best. Writing has to come from the heart, it's about having an imagination then visualizing the characters acting out this play in my mind and taking that vision to create an interesting story or an illusion. Good writers enjoy what they do using their creativity to create great stories
