The Story of Nothing

In the beginning, a voice came out of nothing saying, IS ANYTHING OUT THERE.  From the emptyness and darkness returned an echo, IS ANYTHING OUT THERE.  The voice excited to hear something, decided to make some light so he could see where this other voice was coming from.  He raised his arms in the darkness and brought both hands together with a mighty force.  When he opened his hands a small ball of light appeared and placed the sun in front of him.  Now he could see and looked to find where the voice was coming from.  He looked far and all around but did not see anything, so he decided to try again.  IS ANYTHING OUT THERE, he waited and heard the voice again but couldn't see anything.  So he thought and decided to make a little planet with some people on it to help him find this other voice because the universe is so big.  So he made earth and some people and asked them when he returned if they would tell him if they saw the other voice he was hearing.  So he took off to the other side of the universe in search of the voice and it was dark and empty too, so he made another sun.  Then he tried again, IS ANYTHING OUT THERE, he waited and heard the voice again but couldn't see anything.  So he decided to make another planet and put some people on it and ask them if they would help him find the voice.  Then he traveled back to the first planet he made and asked the people if the saw anything.  They said, no we haven't seen anything but we are hungry and thirsty.  So he put animals, fruit trees, crops for these people to harvest and rivers for them to drink.  Then he decided to create suns, stars and planets and put them all over the universe to help him find this other voice. Then he tried again, IS ANYTHING OUT THERE, he waited and he didn't hear the voice.  He tried again, IS ANYTHING OUT THERE, he waited and heard nothing.  He traveled around the universe checking if anybody had seen anything and nobody could help him.  So he decided to try one last time, IS ANYTHING OUT THERE, and lo and behold a figure appeared before him saying, I AM EVERYTHING, YOU HAVE MADE ME, YOU ARE NOTHING AND YOU SHALL DISAPPEAR, (POOF)  and they both disappeared.  When you look at the stars tonight you see a part of nothing and you see a part of  everything.  Copywrite 2012 by Timothy Allen Rebsom
