Posted - 05/09/2007 : 01:36:34 I worked for twenty three years for the Elves from the Hollow Tree. The competiton with NBC or Nabiso was fierce. We didnt like their product and the feeling was mutual. We would never be caught with any Nabisco products in a shopping basket. As a matter of a fact,I encouraged my relatives to do the same. If I ever caught any of Nabisco's products in their pantry, all heck would erupt. There would be no more samples for them!
One day my wife, Sandy and daughter, Jennifer, were shopping at a 7-11 near our house. The Nabisco Salesman,Tom, was writing up credits from the Christmas Holiday. He asked my wife, with a tongue in the cheek. if she and Jennifer wanted some of the Oreo Tins, he had credited out. my wife said, "sure why not". I'll find a home for the special Christmas cookies They had red fillings in the center.
"What really made me proud was what my eleven year old daughter asked her momma". She looked up with her big blue eyes and said,"Momma, whats an Oreo?" I was one proud cracker stacker when my wife relayed the story to me. This would make a good commercial?
Since my retirment, I have made up for the years of no Wheat Thins and Triscuts,I hope I can enjoy another 23 years eating them. Everytime I see an Oreo commercial my memories go back in time. those were definitely the good old days!! |
