Inthe Seventies,I sold cookies and crackers for the Hollow Tree Elves in Arizona. On the south side of Tucson, was a store named the big market, or El Grande Market.

It was a typical chinese mom and pop market, familiar to many small towns and cities in the USA. I was always entrigued by the small stores owned by the chinese people in America. Some of my best friends in the grocery business, were Asian Americans. Since I was always telling them about the quail, I killed, I became a favorite buddy right a way. The different stores would trade me fish, steaks, and anything else I needed for a mess of quail. I had a friend in Mammoth Arizona, Barney, who had a ham sandwich waiting for me every friday at 10 am.
Needless to say, I became their number One cookie vendor over a short time. The other cookie companies couldn't understand how I was always showed favoritism in the market place. I thought it was becasuse of my likable, charming and warm personality?

Anyhow, back to the ranch, I was having a serious problem with spoils and damage product in this one store. I told Mr Gee of the problem. He said in broken English, "comey with me I fixy." He could speak Spanish and Chinese fluently ,but had a hard time with English.

He took me to the shelf and showed me the problem. At the time. we had some big packages of different assortments of sandwich cookies. He told me I was pushing the cookies too far to the back of the shelf. The mice needed room to travel from the dog food to the baking supplies. Since mice love both, I was blocking off the "freeway" with cookies. After following mr Gees instructions, I had no problem with mice tunneling through my Pecan Sandwich cookies.

All is well that ends well. "The mice were happy,The owner was happy and the "mean little OLD cookies salesman was happier than all" Once upon a time.... The End 'MEAN LITTLE BOY" 2007
